Sports leagues

I was lucky enough to get into the volleyball scene in Columbus after about a year. I’d been playing club volleyball since college and was looking for somewhere to play competitive volleyball. I’ve met the majority of my close friends through volleyball leagues. Joining a sport when you are new to a city and looking to meet new people is a great idea. There sports of all levels all over Columbus. It’s tough to find out where to go to play any sport when you move to a new city, or even to figure out where all of the different leagues are located if you’ve lived there for some time or would like to take up a new sport. While I currently only play soccer and volleyball, I’d like to pass along information about any local sport that I find so that you may play what you please. I’ll try to provide information such as costs and level of play (to my best knowledge) when available. Spring is in the air, which means to me, soccer and sand volleyball. What else is available around the city? Softball, dodge ball, kickball, flag football…the list goes on. I’ll tackle what I can in upcoming posts. Please let me know if you are aware of leagues that I don't mention so that I may include them. I’m always looking for more sports to play…..

Welcome!

I moved to Columbus from northeast Ohio in 2003, on a whim with a friend. I always saw myself moving away from the small town in which I grew up. I went to the local university with the intention of playing volleyball, but due to an injury, I never did. I got a job as a case manager for mentally ill adults after I graduated and just settled into local life. The economy isn’t great in that area and I was ready for a change. This was my chance to “get out”.
Five years later, I feel like I’m starting to get a grasp on Columbus. It’s a city that is spread out and is very diverse. I hope to share what I’ve discovered while I explore the city further. I love trying new recipes, discovering ways to save money and make life more simple, happy hours, going to sporting events, and playing sports/working out. In addition, I intend to do what I can to leave the Earth a better place. Whether one believes in global warming or not, there is no excuse to be so wasteful and careless about the environment---we don’t own this world. I have much room for improvement on this topic, but I do what I can and seek out simple ways to improve. Basically, I want to be healthy and happy….you know, Feel Good.
